Message from Paul

This week we’re looking at Peter’s ultimate failure to stand by his Master, and the utter despair which enveloped him as a consequence of that. We all need to be brought to the place of complete self-disillusionment in order to live the crucified life. Paul knew that ‘in his flesh dwelt no good thing’ or, as the NIV puts it, ‘I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature’ (Romans 7:18). In looking at Peter’s failure, but also the lovely way in which the risen Jesus restored him, there is hope for all of us to live the Christ-centred life. ‘Jesus, be the centre’ can be our prayer this Eastertime!

Micah Challenge – Blow the Whistle campaign

The Evangelical Alliance has launched this campaign to mark the halfway point to 2015, the year by which the international community determined to half extreme poverty through the Millennium Development Goals. We can take part by completing the postcards you will find on the back table and posting them to the Prime Minister. This will remind him that he and and other world leaders made a commitment in 2000, to halve global poverty by 2015 and to let him know that as Christians we care about keeping our promises to the poor, the widow and the orphan.

Please take a card, add your signature, address and a stamp and post it off as soon as possible. Find out more by going to the website, www.micahchallenge.org.uk

Joan, Jan and Mary have left for Kakamega

Joan Hadlow and two friends, Jan and Mary left for Kakamega, Kenya on Saturday 31 March. Mary sponsors a young woman who lives in Lucy and Andrew’s house. The young woman has repeated said, ‘Mary will come to see me!’ Joan Hadlow never dreamt it would happen but the faith of this dear woman is being rewarded. Please remember them in your prayers.
