Message from Paul

Today we move in our readings into the Book of Exodus, which we’ll link to John’s Gospel with the theme of redemption. The Passover lamb secured the release of the people of Israel from their cruel bondage. The Lamb of God secures our release from the bondage of sin and death to the freedom of life in the power of the Holy Spirit (the Counsellor that Jesus promised in John 14:16). The principles are the same, the shedding of blood was required in both cases, but the temporal deliverance of the Israelites was made eternal by Jesus’ once-for-all, perfect sacrifice for the sin of the whole world. We know a ‘better covenant’ (Hebrews 7:22). Do try and do the reading, whether you’re a part of one of our mid-week groups or not – you’ll be blessed as you do! One chapter a day will see you through in 9 weeks. A fringe benefit, so I’m told, is that the reading helps you to make sense of the preaching. Anything that does that has to be worth the effort.

Further message from Paul

This morning, we’re dedicating Tadi and Godwin, the boys of Chine and Tsitsi, to the Lord. It’s exciting that Chine and Tsitsi have felt led to take this step, and we shall stand in faith with them that the boys will grow up to know and love their Lord and Saviour.

Tonight, we’re at the Community Church again for our monthly prayer time, 7:00pm start. Do come if you can to this joint evening of prayer and intercession for our respective communities. These are inspirational sessions, and we can gain a freshness from praying with other congregations.

I intended to begin our door-to-door outreach this afternoon at 4:00pm, but partly because of the prayer evening, and partly because we will be lacking a prayer back-up team, I have postponed our going out until next week. Please sign the form at the back of the church if you are interested in coming out next Sunday (April 22).
