Message from Paul

This morning I’ll be ministering on the covenant with Moses as we have it in Exodus 24, and through the week we’ll be moving on in our reading to chapters 27-33. The essential ingredients of covenant are:

  1. word, which must be agreed;

  2. blood, which ratifies the agreement, and;

  3. sign (or seal), which witnesses it.

These things are always part of God’s covenant arrangements with man, and we’ll see them operating in today’s passage. They are just as crucial for us as New Covenant believers. Do we really know that we are in a covenant relationship with the Maker of heaven and earth, which is more efficacious than any legal agreement we may have with man-centred institutions? Do we reverence God in such a way that we are more careful to keep His covenant than we are about anything else in our lives? Do we discover Him to be loving and faithful every day? If we keep covenant, we will! (Psalm 25:10).

As part of our Praise and Prayer evening tonight we will watch this month’s Release International DVD update, which is particularly looking at some of the current goings-on in China. Do come along if you can.

Work party message from Paul

I want also to give you an advance notice today, which will increase in profile as the intervening weeks roll by. On May 19 (Saturday), we’re having a work party, when we’re asking for as many volunteers as possible. We want to do a spring-clean, and many hands make light work (Proverbs 32:1). The hours we work from are 9:00am to approximately 12:30pm, but you don’t have to do all of this. Whatever you can do will be of great benefit to all of us, because we are fortunate enough to have a building which we need to look after in a way which honours God. It’s His resource, and we steward it as to Him. Will you put the date in your diary?

I know you will! Coffee will be served at around 11:00am. The reward is the same, whether you come at 9:30am or just in time for coffee, providing you don’t leave immediately afterwards (ref. Matthew 20:1 – 16).

Men’s Breakfast

Men don’t miss out on another Saturday morning for some great food and fellowship at 8:30am. Ron is cooking so it will be food of high quality and a friend of Bernard is speaking, Mr John Sprate, a retired police inspector. Please let Richard or Ron know if you are coming so we have an idea of how many to cater for.
