Messages from Paul
We’ll be looking this week in our series from Exodus at Moses second journey up Mount Sinai, this time having to carry the two stone tablets with him to find out exactly what to write on them. He must have sorely wished he had not broken the first ones! When was the last time you did something you greatly regretted? Are you over it now, or has it left a scar that isn’t quite healed? Jesus is the Great Physician, but we have to go into His consulting room for the prescription, get it made up, and then make sure to follow the instructions! Don’t forget that God is Jehovah Rapha – the God who heals you. When He heals, it’s forever!
For Praise and Prayer this evening (7pm), we are joined by Harold Cottingham and some of the Caterham Christian Centre folk, and part of our emphasis will be to continue to pray for our communities. The Community Church are not able to be with us for the next two months, due to other commitments.
Next Sunday being Pentecost Sunday we are invited to an ecumenical celebration at St. Mary’s on the Hill, 6pm start. Note the earlier time. This is one of the few occasions we worship together as part of the wider Christian community, so do join us if you can.
Kakamega Update
Following last week’s prayer request, Joan Hadlow received the following message:
Thanks for your prayers. We are in Nairobi, please pray for me surgery is on Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock. Pass our love to all. With love and prayers from Andrew and Lucy.
Update message from Ka-Ming, Brenda, Róisín and Oisín (via email today)
Dear Friends and Family, We do appreciate knowing that you pray for us here in Cambodia. Please continue to do so. The heavy rains have come early to Cambodia and with them have come a hosts of viruses and bacteria.
-
Both Ming and Oisín have dengue fever (a mosquito born virus). Ming also tested positive for typhoid fever again but the doctor said his blood results were too confusing to know for certain if this was a relapse. He is being treated for typhoid. Thankfully both Ming and Oisín are over the worst. Ming (the sicker of the two) is left feeling weak and lethargic and has just come out in the dengue rash which he says is like having hot oil poured over him.
Oisín had a mild form of dengue so the doctor says, as he had enough energy to scream and scream while at the doctors. His legs and arms are now bright red and he is in terrible form. He is also quite anaemic, something that was picked up in his blood results last year. He is to go for testing next week to rule out a genetic anaemic disorder.
-
Here at the orphanage numerous kids are sick. Heng has asthmatic bronchitis, a few children have chest infections and viruses, we have a second wave of chicken pox (which came with a new girl), an outbreak of scabies and a bizarre outbreak of worms! Thankfully Sokim is well and in control of everything!
-
Roisín and I (Brenda) are fine. Roisín did get sick in the midst of it all but is better.
Please pray for us. For a quick recovery for Ming and Oisín and the children here at Sunshine House. For endurance and grace for Brenda! With love, Ka-Ming, Brenda, Róisín and Oisín
