Messages from Paul
We can wish ourselves a happy birthday to-day, for as members of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ it is His Church’s birthday. When Jesus returned to heaven at His Ascension, the Father and He had already agreed to send the Holy Spirit to the waiting disciples. The timing, however, had to be exact. Jesus had to be crucified at the time of Passover, because His sacrifice for the world’s sin fulfilled God’s redemptive plan, which the Exodus Passover foreshadowed. The next Feast of the Israelites’ Ceremonial Year was the Feast of Weeks, or the thanksgiving for the firstfruits of the year’s wheat crops. This takes place fifty days from the first Sabbath after the Passover, counting from the day after that Sabbath. (Greek ‘pent’ = 50, hence the term Pentecost). You will find that Pentecost Sunday is fifty days from Easter Sunday. The Lord knew that the Christian Church would be celebrating its Pentecosts on Sunday! May we encounter God the Holy Spirit on this wonderful Festival of our Christian year, and may He transform us by however many degrees He wants to into more of our Lord’s likeness. Just give Him permission!
Next week we’re back to our regular Praise and Prayer at 7:00pm, and a small team will be out on the doors at 4:00pm, still working on Whyteleafe Hill. We’ll also be out the following Sunday, because two on, two off is working better for us this Summer, given our other Sunday evening commitments. Do keep us in your prayers as we go round the community seeking to lift Jesus in the awareness of our neighbours.

Update message from Ka-Ming, Brenda, Róisín and Oisín (via email today)
Dear Friends and Family, thank you to all of you who have prayed for us over the past few weeks and sent e-mails. Just to update you all:
Ming and Oisín are over the worst. Ming has still got a dengue rash and in the end we decided that it was best that he go back to England for a few weeks to recover. He lost five kilos over the past two months so looks gaunt and unwell at times. Ming’s older sister got married rather unexpectedly yesterday so Ming was able to attend. They had a ten course Chinese wedding meal so hopefully Ming has put on a few pounds.
Róisín, Oisín and I are here at Sunshine. The staff and children are great and are looking after us. Oisín is better and his platelet count is back to normal. He is still anaemic and we are waiting the results of a blood test to determine if he has a genetic blood disorder. Since his sickness he is in terrible form and difficult to manage at times. I am not sure if it is because he isn’t feeling well or maybe it is the start of the terrible twos!
Thank you again for praying for us. We appreciate it so much.
With love, Ming, Brenda, Róisín and Oisín.
