Messages from Paul

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday, following on from Pentecost in our Christian year. We now celebrate and affirm the role of the Holy Spirit, not only in our salvation, but also in our sanctification, the latter only becoming possible after that first wonderful outpouring recorded in Acts 2. John’s Gospel teaches us far more than the others about the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit, and I am excited that we are beginning our reading series today in that very Gospel. Do take time to read through it over the next couple of months or so, and do it prayerfully, for this wonderful Book was written specifically to stimulate and inform the life of faith. It will be the best thing that you can do this Summer, because there is nothing so precious as God’s gift of faith in Jesus, His Word and His Spirit (2 Peter 1:1). Today I’ll be looking at the new birth, and sharing some thoughts in respect of our Lord’s teaching to Nicodemus the Pharisee. We can’t start without it!

Both this week and next we’ll be out in the community working on the doors in the afternoons. Today we’ll be finishing off our visits on Whyteleafe Hill, and next week I plan to start in Salmons Lane. These plans, like any others, are subject to any changes that the Lord may want to make. We have a catch-phrase that we remind ourselves of every time we go out – the fewer houses we call on, the better. Think about it! 4:00pm to approximately 6:00pm if you want to come and bolster us in prayer.

Advance notice: Church Termly Meeting on Tuesday June 26, 6:30pm Supper, 8.00pm Meeting.
