Messages from Paul
I’m looking forward to being back with you this Sunday. The retreat last week was all to do with dying to oneself so that we can uncompromisingly live the life that God desires for us. It was one of those God-incidences that I had just arrived, in my notes on John’s Gospel, at the place where Jesus talks about the kernel of wheat falling into the ground and dying, if it is to “produce many seeds” (John 12 v.24). What we die to is, of course, sin and self-will in order to do God’s will, with Jesus as our perfect role model. We couldn’t even begin, but for the fact of the indwelling Holy Spirit, but since He does indwell us, we have no excuse for not getting on with it! I’ve even less excuse, now that the Lord enabled me to go to last week’s conference! We have good incentive to follow Jesus, since He is the light of the world, and following any other leader can only take us into deeper darkness. More of that today!
This week: Church Termly Meeting on Tuesday June 26, 6:30pm Supper, 8.00pm Meeting.
Women’s fellowship upcoming speaker
Note from Jenny regarding Women’s Fellowship, July 05 (Thursday week): Helen Reed is coming to speak at the Fellowship on this occasion. Helen has, of course, been worshipping with us for over six months now, having come to Whyteleafe to care for her mother. She has been a great blessing to us, and shared some testimony very effectively on one Sunday morning, so we have got to know her a little. If any of you are able to join the Thursday regulars to hear Helen, Betty would be delighted!
Andrew and Lucy update message from Joan Hadlow
Lucy and Andrew went to the hospital Saturday believing whatever happens is the will of God, one thing they say they know is that ‘nothing is impossible with our God’. They say that they are travelling in the tempest weather but still remember His presence with us, Promises for us and His Power in ALL He can DO, in Him we live. On Monday morning Andrew had another chest scan and then he would see the doctor again at 11am but thought they would pick the results up Tuesday and then keep us informed. Please keep praying. Before they went back this week a text said Praise God. God does things we cannot understand! May the name of God be blessed. Love and greetings to all … What a witness, Joan
Also:
Next RUSH dinner is Saturday July 14 at 7pm for 7:30pm. Ensemble will sing, Phoebe will play and Grannie will have a sale, may even be a cake sale. All welcome, suggested donation: £8.
See Joan Hadlow for tickets, half gone already or leave message on phone. Anyone who wants to help will be very welcome. Proceeds this time will be to education and maybe medical if necessary. Thanks, Joan
