Message from Paul
Today we’re preparing to move into Jesus’ High Priestly prayer as John records it in chapter 17. In making that preparation, we must revue something of our Lord’s teaching to His disciples in the previous four chapters, and draw on some other biblical references as well. How rich these passages are for us as we realise that Jesus ever lives to pray (intercede) for us as believers, that we might be ‘completely’ saved (Hebrews 7:25). Our salvation was never intended to be incomplete! (Half-baked, as we might say!) The old King James version talks about being saved ‘to the uttermost’. You can’t get more saved than that! That salvation, as we experience it during the course of our earthly lives, has much to do with our spiritual lifeline to heaven through the channel of prayer. Our joy in the Holy Spirit is vitally linked to this. How joyful are you at the moment, or am I? I could use some more at times, I often think. Well, develop your prayer life, the Holy Spirit would say, and just watch what happens!
RUSH Dinner (from Joan Hadlow)
Thanks to all who helped and came to the RUSH dinner on July 14. A good evening was had by all and £1,553 was raised, including £177 with Granny’s sale and £55 on the cake stall. Hopefully some of the older children can now go to school for longer. Thanks so much.
