Message from Paul

As we are looking at Jesus’ High Priestly prayer, how good it would be to take time during this holiday month to meditate on it. In preparing my hand-out notes for John’s gospel, I had no idea that I would take a week’s study with the prayer of chapter 17 alone, but once I began to write about it, I knew it had to stand on it’s own. I believe that the Lord is leading me as I prepare these Scriptures for you on a weekly basis (there would be little point in doing them if I didn’t sense that!). Thus the format for John’s Gospel has been five weeks of four chapters each, and one week comprising just chapter 17. That’s how important it is! So much so, that God the Holy Spirit wants us to get it inside of ourselves this month (as well as having the opportunity to consolidate our readings in this most beautiful of Gospels). Have a good holiday if you’re going away. If not, we can all take the time to get refreshed in Jesus. Jenny and I are away for the 3rd and 4th Sundays (19th – Ron Jeffrey is speaking and 26th – Richard Butts is speaking) , and also for the first in September (2nd when Derek Edmonds is speaking). We’ll start back in earnest, knowing that our risen and ascended Lord is praying for our protection, our joy and our sanctification, on September 9th.

In praying for us (as those who would yet come to believe in Him), our Lord says this to the Father:

I have given them the glory that You gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me. What wonderful love!

Wednesday Homegroup from Richard

Wednesday House Group at Richard and Gill’s will close for the rest of August and not meet officially again until September 12. However it will meet socially for two Wednesdays in August on 15th and 29th at 7:00pm for a walk, weather permitting followed by something to eat. The evening is open to anyone from the church who feels like some fellowship and a leisurely walk but please let Richard or Gill know if you are coming so we know how many to cater for. The walks will start from 61 Hillbury Road at 7:00pm and finish around 8:00pm but if you are unable to get there in time for the walk come at 8:00pm for some food and fellowship.
