Good Morning & Welcome
Verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18
Our Sunday services
|
Morning 10:30am in the church |
Evening 06:30pm Baptism at Oakhall |
|
Paul Riseley is leading and speaking at this morning’s service. After all-age worship as part of the main service, youngsters go to the hall for fun and teaching with Hilary and a crèche room available for families to use. |
They will be no Praise and Prayer at Whyteleafe tonight, but instead we are supporting a baptism at Oak Hall. The man who recently married Alice Au’s daughter is the candidate (Tony), and we’ve got to know him a little through the men’s breakfast. |
Information
There are printed songbooks available for those who have difficulty reading the overhead projection screen and there is also an induction loop for those with hearing aids. Ladies’ toilets are located in the back hall on the left and gentleman’s toilets are through the doorway in the church on the right as you enter. Please ask if you need any help. After the morning service, tea, coffee and other refreshments are available in the back hall, please join us.
Message from Paul
This morning we’re looking at a glorious moment in the experience of the nation of Israel at the outset of her wilderness wanderings. The difficulty with it was that it was very short-lived. As Christians, we have had glorious experiences in our walk with God. Were they short-lived?
Can our knowledge of Him gladden and inspire every moment, or is this too much to expect? The least we can do is to encourage one another, and “the moreso as we see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).
Working Party (note from Richard)
Working Party Saturday 22nd September from 9;00-1:00pm or however long you can manage. The bottom fence at the Church house will be replaced on Tuesday 25th September but in order for that to take place we need to take down the old and clear the area of rubbish. If you are able to help with this please let Richard know so he can organise the morning and sort out some other jobs that also need doing if there are enough people. As skips are expensive to hire and with no accessibility to the Church car park for skips to be delivered I am hoping we can take the rubbish in small loads off to the dump in car boots. If you have leather gloves and or a saw it could well come in handy for taking down the fence.
Cedar Club
Both Roz and I, individually, had the thought that it was time to give each of the children at Cedar, their own bible. Imagine our delight to discover that there was money all ready and available in the Bible Fund! Joan, Roz and I, then pondered the ‘when’ and ‘how’ of giving them.
The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard, kept coming to mind – so, without the children having to score ‘attendance’ points or ‘memorise’ verses, it was decided that each child should receive a bible, no matter how long ago or how recently they had come. Their ‘reward’ would be the same!
Maureen Carrot was with us the day the bibles were given – very apt, as Maureen had been part of the very beginnings of the pre-Cedar group. The focus at the presentation, was that the gift that each were receiving, was one of ‘life’. It was a ‘living’ gift, one that would help each of them live their lives to the full – as God has intended – as they read it and take it to their hearts.
An ENORMOUS ‘Thank You’ to all who have contributed to the Bible Fund. You have invested in the Kingdom of God. Keep on investing !!Already we have had some more money into the fund (thank you) and already I have had to buy two more bibles!
Please pray For each child
For their families
For ongoing opportunities to give more bibles
For Cedar group as a whole
And For Joan H-D, Roz and Jenny as they lead it through
The scripture put inside each bible, was, ‘You are the vine, we are the branches, Abide in Me’. This is the Cedar scripture. Thank you all for prayer and support. Jenny.
