Messages from Paul
Today we consider the call on the life of the priest, Old Covenant style (Leviticus chapters 21 & 22). In the church of our Lord Jesus, we refer quite frequently to the belief we have concerning the priesthood of all believers, and my text this morning from 2 Peter clearly supports that. How far, then are the old regulations applicable to the Levitical priesthood relevant for us, given that we all have a priestly role to fulfil? In reading Leviticus so far, I think we’ve discovered that the rituals may have become obsolete, but the principles underlying those rituals are far from antiquated. God’s ways concerning us as His special creation do not change. We’ll try to grasp these principles a little more firmly as we look at the word of God for today.
