Messages from Paul
Today we observe another Sunday of Remembrance, taking time to thank the Lord that He has spared us in times past from the oppression of the wicked because millions have laid down their lives in horrific warfare. (See the headline Proverb I’ve quoted, above). We have never had to ‘go into hiding’, at least in our comparatively recent history, because an evil regime has risen to power in our land. How thankful we are! And yet there is a warfare raging around us that is more insidious than all the wars fought by man, for it keeps millions in the sleep of death which will result in a lost eternity unless, for each individual in that state, there is a spiritual awakening. Paul the apostle talks about this warfare in Ephesians 6:10-18, and it is to be engaged in this conflict that the Christian is called. As we give thanks for our freedom this morning, and for those who purchased it by their own blood, let’s also reflect on the freedom we have through the Blood of Jesus to play our part in his wonderful plan of redemption for a dying world.
His service is, after all, perfect freedom.
It’s lovely to welcome Ming as our speaker today. He will bring whatever the Lord has laid on his heart, so I will not begin my planned series from the Epistle to the Hebrews until next week. It should run through until the end of December.
