Ron writes for this week’s bulletin: Hilary and I went to see ‘Cargo’, the new Paul Field production. Its message is harrowing – slave trading, in the form of people trafficking, is more rive nowadays than it was 200 years ago before its legal abolition. Young girls are lured to UK with false promises made to them and to their parents. They arrive here and are beaten up and raped and forced into prostitution. The are told their parents will be murdered if they escape.
You can help by writing to the Croydon Advertiser to complain about the adverts they carry for so-called ‘massage parlours’ which are brothels. 84% of the prostitutes in Croydon’s 100 brothels are from abroad and believed to be effectively slaves.
